Establish, expand, and oversee processes that assist Risk Management in assessing the value of collateral for commercial real estate loans and/or assets secured by real property. Maintain real estate appraisal policy and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Oversee the engagement and review of appraisals relied upon in support of loan transactions. Serve as a principal advisor to senior management in real estate valuation related matters, appraisal techniques, and appraisal policy.

Please list key responsibilities for the role:

• Ensure that Webster’s commercial real estate appraisal policies and procedures comply with federal and state regulatory requirements and professional standards.  Communicate changes to staff and outside vendors and provide training as necessary.

• Review and approve appraisers and external appraisal vendors; maintain list of approved appraisers and exclusionary list. Monitor ongoing performance and take corrective action as needed.

• Analyze and provide commentary on real estate market trends.  Suggest changes to policy regarding collateral advance levels as may be appropriate to reflect the dynamic asset values in the markets where Webster competes.

• Provide collateral valuation review for activities in support of commercial lending, including consulting as necessary to interpret conflicting appraisals, value conclusions, etc.

• Deliver training on current topics, trends and developments in commercial real estate appraisals.

• Oversee the use of Collateral 360, an online appraisal procurement software, and serve as the primary liaison with Lightbox, the parent company of Collateral 360.

• Oversee quality control for internal and external reviewers.
