Merchandise is a key brand builder that taps into customers’ love for Starbucks in an enduring way. We are responsible for the development and promotion of non-food items, primarily serveware, but incl. brewing and lifestyle items. We are P&L owners and brand builders that sit within the Product Organization. Our work is multi-channel (Company-Owned Stores, Licensed Stores, Flagship), Multi-brand (Starbucks, Starbucks Reserve) and Multi-disciplinary (Brand, Business).

This role contributes to Starbucks Merchandise success by supporting the product commercialization, business management and go-to-market communication. Thie role also plays a key role in analyzing data and inventory positions to help lead strategic and tactical plan elements designed to deliver against the strategic growth plans of the Merchandising business unit. This role is also responsible for the accuracy and execution of all partner and customer-facing materials for the merchandise team.

As an associate brand manager , you will…

Marketing & Promotions- responsible for executing all go-to-market materials across 4-6 different promotional periods and multiple store formats.

  • Ensure that the promotional and communication strategy is consistently executed across all customer and partner (employee) touchpoints including in-store schematic, in-store signage and operations materials for US Company-Owned Stores and US Licensed Stores.
  • Drive efficiency and ensure accuracy of all assets, avoid rework.
  • Build strong working relationships within a matrix structure to ensure needs are addressed and information is shared in a timely way.
  • Ensure that promotion is executed with excellence. If there are issues, troubleshoot nimbly and effectively to resolve.

Business Management - support the Group Manager, Senior Product Managers and Product Manager with business analysis, inventory management and reporting.
  • Prepares background analysis to support senior product managers and product managers in reviewing sales/consumption trends, consumer insights, and program payback.
  • Assists brand team in building annual operating plan through data gathering and analysis.
  • Analyzes key issues relating to products (including cost, pricing, quality, or consumer acceptance) and makes recommendations.
  • Performs financial and marketing analysis; assesses brand products and competitor performance.
  • May analyze information to support the development of a sales & operations planning product forecast.
  • Analyzes overall product inventory standing and snapshots, providing recommendations to the Group Manager and Senior Product Managers on specific items and collections
Product Commercialization

  • Ensures legal (IP and MarCom) approvals on all products and packaging

We’d Love To Hear From People With

  • Bachelors degree or 4 or more years of US military experience
  • 3 or more year (s) of experience in a role in product management, brand management or as a producer. 2 years or more if experience is in a merchandise role
  • Proven strong analytical and technical skills; comfortable with syndicated data or large data sets
  • Proven experience with large data sets and information in excel
  • Proven experience in reviewing large amounts of signage and information with a clear approach to organizing and reviewing data to ensure accuracy
  • Must be able to work in a matrix environment, able to collaborate cross functionally, and be a strong team player
  • Ability to analyze business trends and financial metrics, including sales, return on investments, and profit and loss
  • ABM experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG) or retail

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
