Role Overview

Alameda Health System is hiring! Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the Vice President (VP) & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) functions as the top-level information technology leader responsible for facilitating appropriate technology requirements, solutions, and daily technology operations in support of the mission, vision, and business objectives of the organization. The VP & CTO will be responsible for leadership of all technical infrastructure services and operational support. The VP & CTO contributes to and influences strategic business planning and decisions regarding the technology and systems required to maintain operational effectiveness. The VP & CTO focuses on innovative and integrated information technologies and services for the organization. In addition, the VP & CTO develops and communicates the necessary direction and policies for enterprise standards with the goal of continuity of service and advancing the health system's cybersecurity posture and implementing effective solutions to prevent breaches. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  • Architect technology systems to be scalable, compatible, and agile.
  • Defines, negotiates, and delivers all IT services related to infrastructure and operational support that results in the creation and realization of Service Level Agreements.
  • In collaboration with the CIO, Vice President of Applications and CMIO establishes and implements information technology strategic goals.
  • Negotiates and develop contracts with vendors supplying Hospital Information System technology and telecommunications hardware, software and services.
  • Oversees Clinical Engineering and Director of Information Technology to deliver departmental functions.
  • Provide leadership in large cross-functional teams to influence and assist people at a variety of levels internally and externally.
  • Provides innovation in the provision of information technology services to ensure reliability and resiliency of infrastructure to support clinical and administrative functions.
  • Realize opportunities to leverage the existing tools, assets, and resources.
  • Sets direction for policies, procedure, and standards for technology components that support and enforce the enterprise information security program.
  • Responsible for enterprise IT Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery program including Incident Response with Office of Emergency.
  • Responsible for defining the IT standards for the enterprise.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education:Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Management, Operations Management, Engineering or related Masters degree, preferred.

Minimum Experience:Ten+ years of increasing management experience in related fields such as a Director of Information Technology, Chief Technology Architect, Vice President of Technology or Chief Information Officer. Experience and knowledge of best practices related to IT service delivery management. Experience with technology architecture strategies and creating multi-year technological strategic plans.

Preferred Experience:Experience within a healthcare environment. Ideal candidate will have experience with Epic support as an EMR.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:ITIL Foundations, LEAN training, Project Management proficiency and technical certifications or knowledge such as VMware, Citrix, Microsoft, Cisco, AppSense, and Imprivata.
