Role Overview

As the Vice President of Technology, you will be the driving force behind our technology strategy, innovation, and platform stability. You’ll be responsible for defining our technical roadmap, leading a high-performing engineering team, and ensuring the delivery of stable, secure, scalable, and cutting-edge technology solutions. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, strategic leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to establish us as a category leader in payments.

This is a working leadership role — the VP of Technology will be expected to spend approximately 50% of their time coding while also leading the technology organization.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Vision

• Define and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with BlytzPay’s business goals and long-term vision.
• Drive innovation, evaluate emerging technologies, and identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
• Lead the architectural design and evolution of our payment platform, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.

Product Development & Engineering Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing and enhancing BlytzPay’s payment solutions.
• Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and other functional teams to drive cohesive execution of projects and bring innovative products to market.

Infrastructure, Operations & Security

• Establish and enforce best practices for data protection, privacy, and information security across all systems.
• Optimize and manage the technology infrastructure, including cloud services, network architecture, and data centers, to ensure high availability and performance.
• Implement scalable and reliable systems to support current operations and future growth, anticipating technological needs.
• Oversee DevOps practices, ensuring efficient deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of our platforms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with business leaders to translate strategic objectives into actionable technology initiatives.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of technology’s role in business success.
• Align with compliance and legal teams to ensure all technological solutions adhere to industry regulations and standards.

Required Technical Knowledge

• Observability (Splunk, DataDog, Prometheus, etc.)
• SOC 2 Type 2 or PCI compliance

• Fault tolerance & scalability
• Code scan analysis tools (CheckMarx, Snyk, etc.)
• Test automation (Playwright)
• Synthetic testing

What We’re Looking For

• Proven track record of successful leadership in a technology-driven environment, preferably within the fintech or payments industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in building, scaling, and leading high-performance engineering teams, with a strong focus on product development and innovation.
• Deep technical understanding of modern software architectures, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), data management, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate business goals into actionable technology initiatives and a long-term technical vision.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop technical talent.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable navigating the dynamic environment of a fast-growing startup.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
