Job Description

The VP of Asset Management will participate in all aspects of the business – overseeing the company’s real estate portfolio and third-party management teams, supporting capital events, evaluating capital expenditure projects, assisting in the oversight of both internal and joint-venture ground-up development and value-add deals, and assisting in the underwriting of new value-add deals, development deals and capital projects. In-depth excel skills are a must, and Argus experience is preferred but not required. Ideal candidate has hands-on real estate analytical and asset management experience pertaining to multifamily and industrial, enjoys an entrepreneurial environment, has a comprehensive understanding of real estate markets, and wants to contribute meaningfully to a growing company that invests and operates in various real estate sectors and markets throughout the Western United States and Sunbelt markets.


Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of real estate assets, including but not limited to apartments, build-for-rent communities, student housing, industrial and industrial outdoor storage

• Develop and execute strategies to maximize the value and return on investment (ROI) for each asset • Transaction support and due diligence (capital budgets and strategies, review third-party reports, etc.)

• Investment tracking and reporting relative to underwriting and budget

• Oversee third-party property management teams regarding leasing, asset performance, capital projects and annual operating budgets

• Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with company policies and capital partner and lender requirements

• Monitor market conditions and assess opportunities for dispositions and refinancing

• Manage and maintain quarterly reporting and annual business plans for each asset in the portfolio

• Collaborate with development partners, general contractors, and legal teams on due diligence, timely delivery of projects and ensuring alignment to business plans

• Overseeing all aspects of property insurance and assessing any potential exposures to liabilities


Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of real estate asset management, finance, or acquisitions/development experience

• Self-motivated with demonstrated academic achievement and interest in the real estate sector

• Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Argus and ability to analyze and construct complex financial models

• Exceptional attention to detail and reliable assignment execution

• Willingness to learn and ability to quickly grasp new concepts

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Functioning well in an entrepreneurial, small team setting while working independently with limited day-to-day supervision

• Problem solve and work independently to resolve complex problems

• Demonstrates ability to plan and prioritize work for him or herself and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to travel locally and/or regionally on fairly consistent basis

• Cooperative, positive outlook
