About The Role
We are seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer to join our team remotely within the United States. The successful candidate will support the VR&E PSES contract, focusing on updating and enhancing the VA.gov website. This role involves designing user-centered interfaces, developing wireframes and prototypes, and collaborating closely with developers and stakeholders to create accessible, efficient, and visually appealing digital experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX/UI design, with experience in federal government projects, particularly within the VA ecosystem. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that serve veterans and improve their digital interactions with government services.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field.

Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design.

Proven expertise in designing interactive applications using tools like Figma, including high-fidelity prototypes and dynamic interfaces.

Strong analytical skills to interpret user behaviors and derive actionable insights for design improvements.

Experience leading UX projects independently and managing multiple priorities effectively.

Proficiency in collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, including developers, product managers, and stakeholders.

Knowledge of Agile UX methodologies and iterative design processes.

Familiarity with cloud-based UX tools such as InVision, Zeplin, and testing platforms.

Experience with version control and project management tools like Github, Jira, and Confluence.

Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and manage remote team interactions.

Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement user interface wireframes, mockups, and prototypes focusing on application features built in React with REST/SOAP APIs.

Participate in system planning, development, and deployment processes while ensuring compliance with software standards and testing protocols.

Oversee frontend design processes, establish user guidelines, and conduct Veteran-centered research sessions to gather user requirements and validate design choices.

Collaborate closely with developers to ensure seamless project execution, maintaining high standards for user interface quality and adherence to project timelines.

Mentor and lead the design team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and UX/UI excellence.

Develop and maintain UX design best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across all user interfaces.

Gather user requirements, create user stories, and manage project timelines to support user-centered design initiatives.

Create detailed UX documentation, including design specifications, user guidelines, and maintenance manuals for clarity and effective communication.

Lead user testing and UX integration efforts to verify system usability, functionality, and user satisfaction.

Maintain active communication with stakeholders to align design goals and address any UX-related issues promptly.

Perform UX analyses of system requirements to optimize interfaces, considering data flow and user interaction patterns for better system performance.

Participate in design and sprint reviews, ensuring all UI deliverables meet user needs and project specifications.
