Job Description

Trueline’s is seeking a Transportation Land Surveyor to join their team in South Portland, ME. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in shaping Maine’s transportation infrastructure by conducting precision field surveys and delivering accurate data for highways, bridges, and other key transportation projects.


Must Haves as the Transportation Land Surveyor:

  • Experience with land surveying principles and practices, ideally in transportation or DOT-related projects
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar software
  • Familiarity with survey and construction plans
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and walk long distances over uneven terrain
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

What You'll Do as the Transportation Land Surveyor:

  • Perform field surveys for transportation projects using GPS, total stations, and other advanced equipment
  • Conduct boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys
  • Interpret and analyze survey data to create maps, plats, and legal descriptions
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and construction teams to ensure accurate and timely survey information
  • Maintain detailed field notes, sketches, and digital survey records
  • Assist in preparing right-of-way and easement documents
  • Utilize CAD and GIS software to process and present survey data
  • Stay current with emerging survey technologies and best practices through workshops, seminars, and industry involvement

Nice to Haves as the Transportation Land Surveyor:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Survey Engineering or related field
  • LSIT or PLS license (or in progress)
  • Knowledge of right-of-way and land use regulations as they relate to lot and site development
