Technical Writer (Part-Time), Murray Resources - Best Staffing Agency, TX, US

A leader in the global energy industry is seeking a Technical Writer (Part-Time) to support miscellaneous documentation projects. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and professional individual with strong written communication skills. Working collaboratively, the new team member will contribute to documentation quality by leveraging technical expertise to create accurate, user-friendly content while adhering to company guidelines and timelines.

Salary: $40-45/hr

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Type of Position : Contract

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with multiple departments to develop the required documentation.
• Document steps to perform sysadmin tasks.
• Document from handwritten notes, whiteboard notes and miscellaneous notes.

Requirements:

• Experience writing technical documents for Linux and Windows systems
• Excellent communication skills (particularly written)
• Good experience with tech writing tools like MadCap Flare, wiki documentation (preferably MediaWiki syntax), etc.
• Good experience creating professional process flow and system diagrams with Draw.io, Visio, etc.
• Good experience with Excel and ability to automate sheets via Office Scripts (JavaScript), VBA or similar
• Can dedicate min 10hrs/week and burst to 40hrs with a few days notice
• Able to start in a week (at least via teams meet)
• Associate degree or better in Computer Science, Information Technology or related is a big plus
• Understand RDBMs, preferably MySQL. Basic SQL knowledge is a big plus
• Someone local who can join at the office as needed (not common but may happen, assume 90% WFH, 10% onsite) is a big plus
• Experience with other BRD documentation tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, etc. is a big plus
