You'll be joining the Unloan In-Life Crew responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience for those who have a home loan with us. You will be a key technical leader in establishing technical excellence and culture.

As a Staff Software Engineer at Unloan, you will extend your influence beyond a single team. You will be a go-to expert, responsible for designing and ratifying key design and architectural patterns for the critical systems that power the In-Life team. Your role will involve identifying and mitigating large-scale technical risks, mentoring senior engineers, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence across Unloan. You will focus on the foundational work that enables all our teams to deliver a simple, secure, and groundbreaking customer experience.

We are looking for an individual who:

• Thinks strategically about technology, connecting technical decisions to Unloan’s business outcomes.

• Has a proven ability to lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives from conception to completion.

• Acts as a force-multiplier, elevating the skills and knowledge of the engineers around them.

• Able to help shape and provide clear, actionable technical direction even in the midst of ambiguity.

• Is passionate about the home lending and FinTech space and the challenges it presents.

• Takes ownership of the "hard problems" and has a pragmatic approach to architectural evolution.

Tech Stack

Your expertise will be crucial in guiding our teams. We expect you to have a deep understanding and hands-on mastery of the technologies we use to build our products:

• Languages & Frameworks: TypeScript, NodeJS, Expo, GraphQL, NextJS

• Cloud Platforms: Azure or AWS

• Containerization: Docker (bonus with Kubernetes) and container running platforms on either Azure or AWS

• CI/CD: Experience with modern CI/CD tooling and practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Artifactory, Octopus Deploy)

• Observability: Experience with modern observability platforms

• Test Automation: Expertise in building robust test strategies with frameworks like Selenium or Playwright
