The Computing Solutions Department is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a talented team focused on developing the next generation of product line solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA.  The Computing Solutions organization is focused on the development of solutions that can be applied across a wide variety of Avionics products in safety critical commercial and military applications.  Our team is responsible for the development, certification and sustainment of these solutions.  

What You Will Do:

  • Develop low-level software for cutting-edge avionics computing and graphics solutions.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to design, implement, and integrate safety-critical software.
  • Develop/Set up tools to integrate into the internally developed continuous integration pipeline
  • Implement pipeline workflows based on business and development requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues with tool integration
  • Interface with internal teams; provide recommendations to make improvements to pipeline and deliverables
  • Develop training materials and work instructions
  • Work with incoming virtualization tools; determine what is needed to configure, set up and run within the pipeline
  • Willingness to travel (domestically and globally <10%).

  • How to develop and certify mission-critical embedded software for aviation.
  • Gain hands-on experience with next-generation SoC architectures and advanced avionics computing.
  • Work on a program that is expected to be a key technology driver for the next Boeing/Airbus clean-sheet platform.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with C programming.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Python, Docker, Linux, and Git.
  • Background in real-time or embedded software development.
  • Familiarity with avionics or safety-critical software development.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
