Senior Procurement Manager – Customer & Product

Group Procurement manages all activities across the procurement lifecycle, namely:

  • Requirements gathering and strategy – identify opportunities to add value to the Bank (and our customers and shareholders) through sourcing and negotiating with major suppliers.
  • Execution and negotiation – deliver market leading commercial deals to balance the safety and security of our supply chain with the commercial imperatives of the Bank
  • Implement and transition – bring to life the strategy developed and embed the change within the Bank.
  • Performance and governance – ensure maximum value is delivered from our external relationships because of effective management and governance.

This role reports into the Executive Manager Customer & Product Procurement, part of the Banking & Corporate Services Procurement team.
 

This role will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement lifecycle of the Customer & Product portfolio primarily focusing on Home Buying suppliers. As Senior Manager you will be the procurement partner for CBA’s Home Buying team and be responsible for the full end-to-end procurement lifecycle of multiple categories incorporating a broad range of goods and services, including Lenders Mortgage Insurance, Residential Valuations, Settlements and other Customer & Product categories as required. Your responsibilities will include:
 

Procurement Strategy & Execution

Lead and support the end-to-end commercial management of a defined portfolio of categories and suppliers to enable the successful delivery of business priorities and strategic initiatives. This includes:

  • Mapping business requirements
  • Conducting supply market analysis to identify best practices and emerging technology trends
  • Performing spend analysis and identifying demand drivers
  • Developing demand management strategies
  • Running market engagement processes (e.g. RFP, RFT, EOI, RFI)
  • Evaluating bids, negotiating terms, and executing contracting strategies
     

Stakeholder & Customer Relationship Management
 

Establish, develop, and maintain strategic relationships across all levels of the organisation to support the Group’s Purpose and strategic priorities in customer service, technology, and operational excellence. This involves regular engagement with key internal stakeholders such as Legal, Risk, Insurance, Compliance, and Sustainability to ensure the effective delivery of procurement initiatives.
 

Business Analytics
 

Support the development and utilisation of commercial and quantitative data to monitor and enhance category performance. Contribute to the management of procurement intelligence by leveraging data from corporate expenditure, supplier insights, and relevant industry sources

Contract & Supplier Management
 

Ensure category strategies and activities are aligned with the Group Supplier Lifecycle Policy and Procedure and other applicable policies and procedures. Assist Contract Managers with commercial SME input during the development of effective supplier management frameworks and ongoing performance management of suppliers. Attending quarterly business executive reviews with suppliers.
 

Risk & Compliance
 

Ensure stakeholders have a comprehensive understanding of category-specific risks and that all relevant risk documentation and processes are completed. Collaborate with risk SMEs, Business Owners, and Contract Managers to design and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
 

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Professional experience in a Procurement role(s). Prior experience in managing Banking Services suppliers would be highly desirable.
  • A business-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution would be desirable but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to be persuasive and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
  • Advanced commercial and contract negotiation skills and experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen and vision to align with strategic objectives in a highly complex, ambiguous and a large team environment.
  • High degree of problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo.
