Senior Imaging Technologist (M-Th; 7:00-5:30) - North Liberty Hospital, University of Iowa, IA, US

Job Description

Duties Include

  • Perform and teach specialized imaging procedures utilizing CT and diagnostic imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam. This includes independent operation with minimal physician supervision.
  • Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic, angiographic, magnetic resonance systems and multiple modalities of other general diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
  • Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
  • Explain examination process to patients.
  • Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
  • Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
  • Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
  • Plan daily, regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
  • Participate in phantom, human and/or animal research.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
  • Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public


The University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus opened in the Spring of 2025. Percent of Time: 100%

Schedule: Monday– Friday, 800-430, may include rotating weekend and holiday on call responsibilities.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must maintain current certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or other radiologic related technological certification and Iowa Permit to Practice as required by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in CT and general radiography is desired.
