Senior AP Accountant - San Diego (Fully Remote), Hydrogen Group, US

Location: Remote for San Diego-based candidates

Duration: 3-Month Contract

Pay range: $50.00 - $56.00 per hour




The Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable, is responsible for supporting the "Procure to Pay" function and general ledger reconciliation process. This role manages full-cycle accounts payable, assists with month-end accruals, reviews vendor aging statements, reconciles assigned general ledger accounts, and delivers a high level of customer service to vendors, employees, and internal stakeholders across the organization.




Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and review the accounts payable inbox, respond to vendor inquiries, and resolve items in a timely manner
• Research invoices and route them appropriately into the accounting system based on goods or services purchased
• Process invoices and credit memos, apply correct coding based on general ledger accounts, budgets, or policies, and prepare accounts payable batches
• Ensure accurate vendor classifications by preparing and maintaining W-9 form information
• Communicate with vendors to gather information required for accruals
• Attend quarterly accrual meetings and record purchase order accruals in collaboration with the Procure to Pay team
• Perform check runs, reconcile payment systems, prepare cash disbursement checks, and initiate domestic and international wire payments while ensuring accurate remittance details
• Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain effective internal controls and SOX 404 documentation for the Procure to Pay cycle
• Support testing, development, and implementation of ERP system updates and enhancements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of five years of experience in Accounts Payable and General Ledger (a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered)
• Familiarity with systems such as Great Plains, Epicor, Concur, ReQlogic, Mineral Tree, and Blackline preferred
• Experience in a publicly traded company or public accounting environment preferred
