This role provides the opportunity to support a federal agency by producing, editing, and managing critical technical and policy documentation. You will ensure documents are accurate, clear, and compliant with federal standards while coordinating with subject matter experts and project managers. The position involves drafting, reviewing, and finalizing reports, correspondence, and other official materials, maintaining high standards of formatting and consistency. You will also contribute to the development of editorial guidelines and support communication processes that impact agency operations. This is a fully remote role, offering exposure to specialized government content and the ability to directly influence the quality of agency communications.
Accountabilities
As a Senior Technical Writer, you will:

Draft, revise, and finalize agency documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with federal standards

Support project managers in reviewing, formatting, and editing correspondence, reports, and policy documents

Coordinate with subject matter experts to gather content and verify technical accuracy
-
Conduct research to resolve conflicting information and supplement document content as needed
-
Take detailed notes during meetings, creating official records of key issues, discussions, and decisions
-
Apply established editorial standards and contribute to developing new standards for agency documentation

Ensure documents follow prescribed issuance processes and federal directives
Requirements
Candidates should have:

Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field

DoD Secret clearance or higher
-
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Technical Writer, Communications Specialist, or similar role

Ability to travel to Fort Belvoir, VA, on short notice (at least 24 hours' notice)

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and Adobe Acrobat
-
Knowledge of U.S. government, DoD, and agency-specific terminology

Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and working in a structured editorial process
