The Sales Manager at Sommer’s Automotive is responsible for leading a dynamic team of sales professionals to achieve company sales goals, improve customer satisfaction, and maintain high levels of profitability at both Sommer’s GMC Buick and Sommer’s Subaru. This role requires a results-driven leader who excels in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, while ensuring exceptional standards of customer service and fostering a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Leadership & Management : Lead and manage the sales team, including sales consultants and department staff, to achieve sales targets and business objectives.
  • Sales Strategy Development : Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase revenue and market share, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals.
  • Customer Relationship Management : Oversee the customer experience and work closely with the team to maintain and improve customer satisfaction and retention. Responsible for ensuring customer follow-up on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and maintaining the CRM processes.
  • Financial Performance : Monitor and control the sales budget, set pricing strategies, and ensure the dealership meets profitability targets.
  • Training & Development : Provide ongoing training and support to sales team members, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.
  • Inventory Management : Collaborate with management to ensure the inventory meets customer demand, while maintaining profitability. Manage the ordering and stocking processes.
  • Reporting & Analysis : Analyze sales data, track performance metrics, and prepare regular reports for senior management. Utilize data to adjust sales strategies and improve performance.
  • Market Trends : Stay updated on industry trends, local competition, and product knowledge, ensuring the team is always aware of the latest market developments.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with other departments, including marketing, service, and finance, to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

Expectations:

  • Modeling the behavior that you expect from sales staff with a follow my lead management approach.
  • Review and present current sales and sales pace daily.
  • Completing daily manager follow-ups with customers.
  • Ensure the Sales Team is successful in their daily tasks.

Requirements :

  • Proven experience as a Sales Manager (domestics, imports, or used) or similar role within the automotive industry.
  • Demonstrated CRM mastery with a primary emphasis on customer follow-up and CRM processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive sales processes, trends, and customer expectations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a passion for coaching and developing teams.
  • Exceptional sales acumen with a history of exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of vehicle inventory management including inventory ordering, inventory procurement, merchandising in stock inventory.
  • Previous pricing management experience including ensuring competitive pricing, incentive management, and financial promotions.
  • Strong understanding of the latest industry trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Desired Qualities: Prior knowledge of VAUTO, VinSolutions, and Dealertrack
