THE ROLE

This is a critical role to that supports our healthcare regulatory and compliance practice, focused primarily around medical aesthetic (medspa) and wellness practices. You will be conducting deep regulatory research, maintaining a database base of state-specific guidelines, and drafting both internal and client-facing memos in support of your research. You’ll work directly with other attorneys in the firm, as well as clients, using a combination of primary and secondary sources, including frequent communications with state medical and nursing boards. In addition, you will assist the transactional team in conducting various healthcare transactions, including: M&A, MSO/DSO structuring, and drafting various agreements.


THE PERSON

You’re highly organized, resourceful, and passionate about compliance and regulatory law. You thrive on systems, SOPs, and helping businesses stay on the right side of complex rules. You enjoy working independently, but take feedback constructively and are comfortable collaborating with attorneys.

This is not a 9-5 role. While we respect and aim to protect personal time, the nature of our business frequently requires after-hours work and communication with clients and teammates.  Candidate must be comfortable with these demands.


ACCOUNTABILITY


Regulatory Duties :

Conduct research and draft summaries on topics such as:

  • Fee-splitting
  • Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM)
  • Scope of practice
  • Medical director requirements
  • Delegation and collaboration protocols
  • Management Services Organization (MSO) protocols and structuring

Use SOPs and templates to prepare initial client deliverables for attorney review

Monitor board and regulatory websites for updates

Help manage our internal compliance content library (memos, state trackers, etc.)

Collaborate with legal assistants to coordinate client follow-up and memo delivery

Assist with compliance SOP creation and process improvement


Transactional Duties:

  • Lead or support M&A transactions
  • Construct corporate models, including MSO/DSO structures
  • Draft various agreements, including: Management Services Agreements, Operating, Bylaws and Shareholder Agreements, Medical Director Agreements, Delegation Agreements


General Responsibilities :

  • Respond promptly to internal messages and requests (same day responses)
  • Maintain accurate research records and citations ( everything must have a citation)
  • Follow all SOPs for naming conventions, time tracking, and knowledge base contributions within our practice management system, Clio.


SKILLS

  • Strong legal research and writing
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in healthcare
  • Self-starter who meets deadlines
  • Familiarity with AI and AI-assisted workflows
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable in a startup or non-traditional law firm setting (again, not a 9-5)


EXPERIENCE

  • Located and licensed in CT, NY, or MA preferred. Other states may be considered
  • 3+ YEARS MINIMUM of experience in legal research, regulatory compliance, transactional work, and/or general healthcare law
  • Paralegals with strong compliance background will also be considered
  • Experience with aesthetics, medspas, nurse practitioners, or MSOs is a plus


COMPENSATION

Commensurate with experience.
