Position Summary

Avum is seeking a motivated Mid-Level Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll work closely with developers, analysts, and QA peers to ensure high-quality delivery of Appian-based systems. You’ll contribute to test planning, execute a variety of tests, and play a key role in identifying issues across the SDLC.

This role is well-suited for professionals with a strong QA foundation who are ready to take ownership of test processes and collaborate in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will play an important role in supporting the quality testing efforts for Department of Defense Appian-based Contract Writing Systems. Familiarity with federal acquisition systems or regulations like FAR/DFARS is helpful but not required. We provide training and mentorship to help you build expertise in both QA best practices and federal procurement processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the QA team to develop, execute, and maintain test cases and scripts.
  • Participate in a range of testing activities including:
    • Functional Testing
    • Regression Testing
    • Integration Testing
    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
    • Performance Testing (as needed)
  • Review technical and business requirements to ensure full test coverage.
  • Support defect management, triage, and root cause analysis.
  • Provide input on test strategies and continuous improvement of QA processes.
  • Assist in automation efforts and CI/CD testing initiatives.
  • Communicate testing progress, blockers, and findings to QA leads and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to documentation (e.g., test plans, test summaries, traceability matrices).
Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship with active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required.
  • Ability to be onsite 100% in Chantilly, VA in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, software testing, or related roles.
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or SAFe preferred).
  • Strong understanding of testing methods, defect tracking, and test planning.
  • Familiarity with QA tools like Jira, Zephyr or equivalents.
  • Experience executing functional, regression, and integration tests.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to or experience with Appian-based systems.
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber).
  • Knowledge of federal procurement or interest in developing expertise.
  • Appian Associate Developer Certification or relevant coursework.
  • ISTQB Certification or similar a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD environments and tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Performance testing experience using JMeter or similar tools.
  • DAWIA Test and Evaluation (T&E) Certification.

Location

This role is a 100% onsite in Chantilly, VA.
