Job Description

The School of Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering seeks a full-time project coordinator to provide day to day operations management for the National Science Foundation Research Traineeship Program (NRT). This individual will be a key contributor in coordinating this NSF-funded graduate program at ASU. The successful applicant will work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; coordinate efforts of the team to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with sponsoring source's expectations. Specific tasks include recruiting students, setting up meetings, working with individual students on their individual development plans, coordinate student activities with collaborating agencies, organizing events, traveling to the NSF annual meeting, coordinating with the external project evaluator, maintaining the NRT website including web development, graphic design work for promotional materials, organizing workshops, working with academic units to ensure research/teaching assistantships are set up.

Salary Range: $42,000 – $62,000 per year; DOE. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.

Essential Duties

  • Plans, develops, implements and manages a project team through complete task definitions.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes.
  • Identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s).
  • Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules.
  • Tracks milestones/deliverables, re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding project status; prepares and responds to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance.
  • Builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to project success.
  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders, leadership, and other related staff.
  • Prepares post-project reports, and summaries to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.

  • Experience in multitasking while producing accurate output.
  • Experience in meeting deadlines, prioritizing and managing time sensitive projects.
  • Experience in noticing, interpreting and anticipating concerns and potential team and/or sponsorship conflict and escalating as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of available project management applications to effectively and efficiently produce desired results.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships among team members and stakeholders.
  • Experience organizing tasks, responsibilities and outcomes; documents activities and tracks progress.
  • Experience in problem solving and critical thinking.

Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
