About the team
International Markets Analysis (IMA), which sits in the Bank’s International Department, monitors and analyses developments in international financial markets and central bank monetary policy.
About the role
As one of two managers in IMA, you will work closely with your senior manager to provide leadership to analysts within a large section. The role will include overseeing and producing analysis for the Bank’s senior leadership and the Monetary Policy Board. You will be responsible for leading monitoring and analysis of developments in China.
The role is an opportunity to demonstrate and develop a range of skills. You will coach and develop the capabilities of staff that report into you, take a leading role and assist your team in achieving the strategic agenda of the section, and contribute to the broader goals of the department and Bank.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have
Working knowledge of China’s economy and/or financial system, and experience in financial markets more broadly.
Excellent written communication skills, and the ability to guide others on how best to answer analytical questions in a timely way and with the appropriate degree of polish.
Effective verbal communication skills, so that you can concisely and persuasively present views on analysis.
Demonstrated people leadership and influencing skills. The ability to coach and develop your team to help them meet challenges.
Strong organisational skills, the ability to judge what issues are most important and to reprioritise quickly as circumstances change.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills together with an ability to work collaboratively with other sections in the Bank.
The ability to effectively prioritise and balance a mix of short, medium and long-term analytical work in a dynamic environment.
The ability to take responsibility for leading change and innovation to improve outcomes. Support enterprise change initiatives and support your team through times of change.
The capability to maintaining and building a culture of trust and collaboration. Be an effective and empathetic listener that objectively considers a range of ideas and perspectives and encourages junior staff to do the same.
A degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field, preferably an honours degree or higher
