About the team
This role is part of the Financial Markets Group, International Department. The International Department is responsible for the Reserve Bank’s foreign exchange operations, the investment of international reserve holdings of gold and foreign exchange, and the provision of regular advice on developments in international financial markets to the Governors and the Board. The Department is also responsible for maintaining the Reserve Bank’s relations with major international institutions.
This opportunity will enable you to develop as a truly rounded professional and leader. It will provide an opportunity to expand and deepen your knowledge across financial markets and engage with policy relevant issues and questions in international forums.
About the role
You will help to oversee the Bank’s analysis of global foreign exchange markets and Australia’s capital flows, including developing and maintaining the Bank’s suite of AUD models. As a manager, you will lead in a way that creates an environment that enables high levels of employee engagement, collaboration and achievement.
This opportunity would suit those interested in formulating advice on foreign exchange markets and Australia’s external accounts based on high-quality analysis. There will be opportunities to engage with a range of stakeholders in Australia and overseas, analyse and interpret a broad array of data, identify relevant research questions and demonstrate and develop your leadership capabilities.
About you
Significant capabilities and demonstrated experience in the analysis of economic and/or financial data. This would include experience using a range of qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques.
An ability to contribute to the broader strategic direction and engagement of the section and department, sharing accountability with other leaders for overall performance of deliverables and outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to communicate outcomes to relevant internal and external decision-makers, stakeholders and other audiences. This would involve strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience in preparing and/or guiding analysis to a publishable standard (for example Board memoranda, RBA Bulletin or other published research articles).
Strong leadership skills to guide and develop individuals and teams to effectively achieve outcomes and reach their potential.
Contribute to the improvement and implementation of policies, systems and processes, ensuring the integrity and suitability of information.
Manage internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to support and enhance analysis.
An ability to handle sensitive and confidential information (including institution-level data) is essential.
Relevant academic and professional qualifications.
