Machine Learning Engineer | High-Growth Start-Up

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation: $180,000 – $230,000 DOE + equity

We’re representing a well-funded, rapidly scaling start-up that is building AI-powered products in a high-impact industry. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage team where your work will directly shape the technology, product direction, and customer experience.

If you have start-up or founding engineer experience, that’s a HUGE plus - we’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, can wear multiple hats, and is excited by the chance to build from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models that power customer-facing applications.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to turn business needs into ML-driven features.
• Experiment with and apply cutting-edge AI/ML techniques, from deep learning to LLMs and beyond.
• Own the end-to-end ML pipeline, including data collection, preprocessing, model training, and deployment.
• Ensure models are scalable, performant, and explainable in real-world production settings.
• Contribute to technical strategy, architecture, and road map decisions as part of the early team.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Scientist, or similar role.
• Strong experience building and deploying production ML models (e.g., NLP, computer vision, recommendation systems, or generative AI).
• Proficiency with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar ML frameworks.
• Solid understanding of data engineering and infrastructure to support ML workflows.
• Passion for AI/ML innovation and staying ahead of emerging research and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Comfortable in the chaos of early-stage environments and motivated to make an outsized impact.

Huge Plus

• Start-up or founding engineer experience -being part of a company from the ground up.
• Exposure to regulated industries (fintech, healthcare, SaaS) where trust and scale are critical.
