Position Summary

The Learning and Development Manager leads the strategy, design, and delivery of training programs that build capability and drive performance across the Blaze Pizza system. This role manages the creation of high-quality, scalable learning solutions for restaurant and above-restaurant leaders, while ensuring all programs align with brand standards, operational priorities, and business objectives. The Learning and Development Manager partners cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Marketing, and Culinary teams to support new initiatives, organizational growth, and continuous learning.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Learning Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the company-wide learning and development strategy in partnership with senior leaders.
  • Oversee the end-to-end design and delivery of training initiatives supporting onboarding, leadership development, compliance, operations, and new product launches
  • Ensure all learning content reinforces Blaze Pizza’s brand culture, service standards, and operational excellence.

Content Strategy & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and manage blended learning solutions, including instructor-led training, eLearning modules, videos, microlearning, infographics, and assessments.
  • Write content for recipe cards, training guides, and operational rollouts to support new menu items and marketing campaigns.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate operational, technical, and compliance topics into engaging learning experiences.
  • Maintain accuracy, accessibility, and alignment of materials in the Learning Management System (LMS).

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement feedback loops, learning analytics, and reporting to evaluate training effectiveness and ROI.
  • Monitor learner performance, engagement, and completion rates to inform program enhancements.
  • Benchmark against best practices in franchise restaurant training and evolve approaches as needed

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations Services, Field Operations, Marketing, HR, and Culinary teams to ensure learning programs support business objectives.
  • Write and distribute system-wide training announcements to franchisees and leaders, highlighting updates to content, LMS resources, and new initiatives.
  • Manage external vendors and partners involved in content creation or training delivery.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Hospitality, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design or learning development; restaurant, retail, or franchise experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading training strategy, designing multi-format content, and managing learning platforms.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Rise/Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Canva, etc.).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex information into engaging, easy-to-understand learning materials.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms (UKG, Workday, Cornerstone, Opus, or similar).
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills; comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments.


Other Requirements:

  • Able to work in the office on average 4.5 days a week. Ability to travel as needed to support training rollouts, new restaurant openings, and field initiatives.
