Joining BigBinary as freshers

BigBinary is a Ruby on Rails consulting company. It has been in business for the last 14 years. BigBinary is seeking software engineers to join our office in Pune.

We don't care if you have a college degree or not. We don't care if you have work experience or not. We don't care if you have a degree in computer science or not.

This opening is only for freshers and for individuals who want to start their journey at BigBinary as freshers.

The company provides a Mac laptop (36GB memory), a T-shirt and nothing else. No health insurance. No coffee mugs. Nothing.

You should read more about How we work. We are a pretty hardcore and no-nonsense company, and this may not be the best fit for everyone. If you are skilled in programming and want to collaborate with talented individuals, then this is the right company for you.

Building Neeto

BigBinary is a consulting company. Before we send any fresher to a client project, we want to make sure that you have the necessary technical skills to finish the work. Once you are hired then you will be working on Neeto products.

Here, we'll see how much ownership you take. How you manage customer requests. How you manage bugs? You will be directly and solely responsible for building features end to end. You will also deploy the feature to production. You will also be responsible for fixing any bugs that come out of this feature.

Working at Neeto accelerates your learning. Seniors are there to guide you but we expect you to take the full ownership of the feature you are working on.

Learning React and Ruby on Rails

You need to know React.js and Ruby on Rails to join the company. During the interview, we'll ask questions related only to these two topics. Minor DSA questions will be there to test your aptitude.

You can learn React here at and you can learn Ruby on Rails here. Both of these courses are maintained by BigBinary itself. Last year we hired many students from various colleges and everyone learned using the same material.

If you are serious about learning React and Rails then you should join our community that runs on Slack. There you would be able to ask your doubts.

How long it takes to learn

Last year we hired freshers from various colleges. It took them anywhere between 3 to 4 months to learn both React and Rails. They were learning full time (8 to 10 hours a day). If you work hard then you might be able to finish it under 3 months.

What happens after I have learned React and Ruby on Rails

Once you have finished learning React and Rails then in the Slack you can ping Suman and you can tell him that you are ready for the technical interview. You will undergo 3 rounds of technical interviews. Once you clear them then you'll be made an offer to join BigBinary's Pune office.

Pune office

BigBinary has been 100% remote company for the last 14 years. However starting year 2025 we are changing the rules. Any new hire needs to work from the office (all 5 days) for the first few years.

Salary

The starting salary is 12 LPA, plus a 2 lakh retention bonus at the end of the year.
