This opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in contributing to our team as a GlobalLink Electronic Trading Platform Software Engineer intern within State Street’s Global Technology Services organization. Our technology function, Global Technology Services (GTS), is vital to State Street and is the key enabler for our business to deliver data and insights to our clients. What You Will Do:

In this role, you will perform the following day-to-day activities:

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of Global Link’s electronic trading systems, supporting multi-asset class execution and post-trade workflows used by leading global asset managers. 

• Assist in building scalable, event-driven microservices deployed in AWS Kubernetes clusters, using technologies such as Java, Node.js, Oracle, and modern web frameworks. 

• Work with the team to define high-level technical requirements and architecture for the back-end services. 

• Design and implement backend components using core Java and JEE technologies (e.g., concurrency, JDBC), applying object-oriented principles and refactoring techniques to improve code quality and maintainability. 

• Develop and optimize relational database models and queries using SQL and PL/SQL, contributing to scalable data solutions that support high-volume trading workflows.   

• Evaluate and implement new technologies into the platform. 

• Write relevant documentation and diagrams. 

• The ideal candidate is a good software developer with solid computer science training. Knowledge and experience of microservices architecture and Kubernetes is highly desirable.

Education and Preferred Qualifications:   

Candidates should be:   

• Final-year undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical disciplines who are interested in converting to a full-time role post-graduation  

• Enthusiastic about building a long-term career in a dynamic, technology-driven organization  

• Effective communicators with the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment  

• Open to feedback and committed to continuous learning and improvement  

• Motivated by real-world problem solving and eager to contribute innovative ideas  

Certification nice to haves:

• AWS/Azure Certified Developer 

• AWS/Azure SysOps Administrator or equivalent 

• Scrum Master 

• B.S. Computer Science/Engineering or related fields
