Overall Purpose

This position provides technical leadership and augments team capacity through direct participation in database design and administration, data warehousing, and management of company business data through various methods or technologies.

Essential Functions

  • Manages database administration staff including employee selection, training, guidance, performance management, and development to ensure department objectives are met.
  • Ensures the operation of the database department is in alignment with the business objectives of the organization.
  • Participates in developing a roadmap for data management, including database or data management software.
  • Creates new, and maintains existing, policies and processes to satisfy audit requirements.
  • Participates in identifying and recommending technology solutions for business requirements.
  • Complies with all security policies and procedures, to ensure that the highest level of system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years leadership experience managing Oracle and SQL Server administrators.
  • Minimum of eight years of Oracle database administration experience.
  • Experience with the concepts of ETL, data warehousing, and general data management including technologies associated with “Big Data.”
  • Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems; comfort level with Hadoop and Cassandra.
  • Ability to research and quickly resolve highly technical system issues.
  • Effective leadership.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in conjunction with training skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, policy compliance, and documentation.
  • Approved background and drug screen is required.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment.  Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours.  Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching.  Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently.  Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers.  Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

Employee must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of position with or without reasonable accommodation.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $185,000 - $250,000.
New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $225,000 - $300,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
