PeopleCert is seeking a Data Engineer who will play a crucial role in designing and managing the data pipelines that power PeopleCert’s AI and analytics initiatives. You’ll ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and compliant, enabling the AI team to build and deploy models effectively. Your role is about transforming raw, fragmented data into well-structured, high-quality assets that serve as the foundation for AI-driven solutions across enterprise applications.  

As a Data Engineer, your tasks will include the following:  

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing.  

• Collaborate with ML Engineers to prepare datasets for model training and evaluation.  
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance across enterprise applications and platforms.  
• Integrate structured and unstructured data sources into unified data models.  
• Optimize data storage, retrieval, and streaming architectures for performance and cost efficiency.  
• Implement security and compliance measures aligned with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR).  
• Provide reusable datasets and documentation to support experimentation and production AI systems.  
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry’s best practices, emerging trends in data engineering, and cloud technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation in data management.  

What we look for:   

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree will be considered a plus.  
• 3+ proven experience in data engineering, with strong SQL and data pipeline development skills.  
• Hands-on experience in ETL/ELT frameworks and data orchestration tools.  
• Solid knowledge of data modeling, APIs, and data warehousing.  
• Experience in working with large-scale enterprise datasets (ERP, CRM, digital platforms, or equivalent).  
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.  
• Understanding of data governance and regulatory compliance requirements.  
    
      

Nice-to-Have:  

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse and Microsoft Fabric.   

• Exposure to real-time streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hub, or similar), feature stores and ML-ready dataset preparation.  
• Knowledge of big data ecosystems (Spark, Databricks, Hadoop) and observability practices for data pipelines

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

• A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check

• Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)

• HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)

• Financial background check

• Employment reference check.

• If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
