Job overview

The Data Analyst requires advanced statistical training, R statistical programming and data visualization skills. Prior research experience in a field related to child cognitive development is preferred. The candidate will work on the CAFÉ consortium data integration project and write R scripts and work with the PI and build statistical models for analysis for the P01 projects.  In addition to the original data integration purview, the data analyst must take over the role from Methodic on the time use diary which has included a massive overhaul of the scripts. The data analyst will take on the role of running machine learning script to develop a pipeline for an automated script for the content analysis. The data analyst will also create data analysis scripts for multiple ongoing manuscripts including writing preregistrations for these analyses. Finally, the data analyst will work on two federal grants. On the second federal grant the data analyst will also be responsible for data cleaning steps and for preparing datasets for longitudinal analysis under close supervision of the PI working from preregistrations that have already been prepared. These projects require advanced programming skills and a deep knowledge of the material and therefore a psychology degree in addition to data science and math degree is necessary.

Work Interactions

This is a multisite grant with multiple PIs (MPIs) and data collection at University of Wisconsin, Brigham Young University and University of Michigan. The data analyst will be closely supervised by the Principal Investigator (PI), Barr at GU. The data analyst will coordinate with other data managers at the grant sites, University of Wisconsin, Brigham Young University and University of Michigan to securely share comprehensive assessment of family media exposure measures and under the close supervision of Barr and other site PIs will run models to integrate data streams. The data analyst will also coordinate with the data scientists at Methodic for the chronicle datastream. The data analyst will also be responsible for data cleaning steps and for preparing datasets for longitudinal analysis under close supervision of the MPIs. In addition, the data analyst will write preregistration data analysis plans. The overall responsibility for the project will rest with PI Barr at GU.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree from a 4-year college with a concentration in data science or statistics.

  • Evidence of R programming skills necessary.

  • Prior research experience working on analysis of developmental data preferred.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
