SMSI Group is seeking an experienced Carbon - Stainless Welder r to join our team. In this role, you will work with a wide range of metal products, interpreting blueprints, fabricating components, and ensuring quality standards are met. From stainless steel to structural fittings, you'll be a vital contributor in producing precise, reliable, and high-quality results for our industrial and commercial clients.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a strong commitment to craftsmanship, attention to detail, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit stainless steel and steel products (light and heavy gauge) to exact specifications and drawings.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and plans to produce high-quality weldments.
  • Determine material dimensions and confirm requirements for fabrication.
  • Inspect and examine welded parts to meet SMSI's strict quality standards.
  • Perform structural fitting work (round, square, light, and heavy materials).
  • Perform additional fabrication duties as required to support team success.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in welding, fabrication, or manufacturing.
  • Skilled in fitting weldments from prints, drawings, and sketches.
  • Strong knowledge of metals and their properties.
  • Proficiency with fabrication tools and hand tools.
  • Structural fitting experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • OSHA 10 required within 30 days of employment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and proper use of PPE.
  • Physical ability to manage the demands of welding and fabrication work.
  • Industrial painting experience is preferred.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
  • Operate hydraulic shears, plate rollers, hydraulic brakes, manual brakes, and grinders (electric/pneumatic).
