Information On The Division

Located in Strongsville, the 90+ employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the final assembly of landing gear.

As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.

With a strong focus on latest technology of manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components.

Summary

The Buyer reports to the Procurement Manager and has responsibility for preparing and submitting RFQ’s (requests for quotations), analyzing proposals, communicating with suppliers, and negotiating price/lead time and terms. The Buyer will also participate in sales meetings, and coordinate with other internal departments as needed, adhering to all company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit request for quotes
  • Analyze proposals, negotiate best prices and lead time, terms & conditions
  • Confirm, execute all MRP requirements in a timely fashion
  • Prepare purchase orders- ensuring all required documentation accompanies P.O.
  • Expediting open purchase orders, ensuring on time delivery is met
  • Building relationships with suppliers and communicating with them regularly
  • Update ERP system with any delivery changes
  • Request techniques/manufacturing plans as required from supplier for customer approval
  • Be familiar with the preferred supplier program- what suppliers are currently in this and the terms involved. Be familiar with any long-term agreements in place
  • Continue to reduce supplier lead times and obtain cost reductions and reduce expediting costs where possible.
  • Ensure routing, PO, and job subcontract costs all match in the system, and physical release notes as a tool
  • Weekly review Open PO reports and Open Invoice reports
  • Familiarity with AS9100 procedures and SAP
  • Review Monthly Supplier Report
  • Generate procurement reports on an as needed basis, Microsoft Excel knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing buyer position
  • SAP S4 Hana experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Accuracy and able to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to deal effectively with suppliers and represent the company in a professional manner
  • Good organizational and follow-up skills
  • Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations and to effectively multitask.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office with BAAN MRP experience preferred
  • Previous experience in public company environment is preferred. This position requires good communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively work with others towards a common goal.
