Job Overview

Peters Nissan of Nashua is seeking a friendly and organized Parts Counter Person to join our Parts Department team. We are a family-owned and operated dealership proudly serving the community for 70 years, offering a supportive, customer-focused work environment. In this role, you will assist both customers and service technicians with their automotive parts needs, manage inventory, and ensure smooth daily operations at the parts counter. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) that requires weekend availability (Saturdays) and offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team in a dealership known for its longevity and commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Parts Ordering & Billing: Order, receive, and bill out parts for customer and internal requests, ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions .
  • Inventory Management: Maintain proper storage of incoming parts and stock shelves in an organized manner. Perform regular bin counts and record-keeping to manage inventory levels effectively .
  • Customer & Technician Support: Assist retail customers and service technicians in identifying and obtaining the correct parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. This includes answering phone inquiries and providing price quotes or parts availability information .
  • Parts Delivery Coordination: Coordinate parts pick-up or delivery as needed, supporting our service technicians and wholesale customers by ensuring timely distribution of parts .
  • Department Upkeep: Keep the parts counter and department work area orderly, neat, and clean at all times, following safety standards and organizational systems .
  • Customer Service Excellence: Maintain a superior level of customer service in all interactions, striving to build positive relationships with customers through knowledgeable and courteous service .
  • Additional Duties: Perform other parts department tasks or assist with related duties as directed by the Corporate Parts Manager or dealership management to ensure smooth operations .

Qualifications & Skills

  • Customer-Focused Team Player: Must be a customer-oriented, self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills . A friendly, professional demeanor is essential in this customer-facing role.
  • Basic Automotive Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive parts or general vehicle maintenance is helpful. Knowledge of automotive parts or mechanics is a plus (aftermarket parts experience also a plus) , but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who shows the ability to learn.
  • Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills are required. Must be comfortable using parts catalog software and point-of-sale systems to look up parts and process orders .
  • Education: High School diploma or GED required (or equivalent level of education) .
  • Schedule Availability: Ability to work full-time daytime hours, including Saturdays and occasional evenings as needed to cover dealership hours . Our Parts Department is open Monday–Saturday (closed Sundays), so a flexible schedule is important.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain an organized work area and manage multiple orders simultaneously.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move automotive parts (up to ~50 lbs) and to stand/walk during the shift while assisting customers and stocking parts (reasonable accommodations will be made as needed).
