Your role in the team

The International Business Unit Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the lead financial professional within a specific business unit or subsidiary. This person is ultimately responsible for the full financial operations of that Business Unit, including overseeing financial forecasting, reporting, payroll, treasury and tax in partnership with corporate functions. Further, they serve as the independent business advisor, conduit of financial information and liaison to strategically position the Business Unit for success and are responsible for implementing strategic change through managers and others by delivering perspectives on the business that include recommendations for action. This role is at Director level and the successful candidate will provide leadership in developing and achieving Business Unit priorities and will lead collaborative dialogue across Business Units on priorities and initiatives. Finally, this individual will also be part of the global finance leadership function – working collaboratively with others in a similar position to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including forecasting, reporting, payroll, treasury and tax functions within the United Kingdom for the Business Unit 
  • Influence business decisions by providing financial transparency through measurement, business case development and other analyses to understand the impact of strategic decisions 
  • Serve as the key finance executive in the Business Unit, providing expertise and an objective focus on execution and integration of Business Unit priorities, while managing expectations and successful outcomes  
  • Leverage internal and external networks to increase Business Unit’s success in achieving desired objectives 
     
  • Lead teams in understanding the link between Allstate objectives and their contributions and ensure team efficiency and effectiveness 
  • Analyze long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions and consider ramifications to the business 
  • Partner with the Officer/Senior Leadership in the identification and execution of strategic approaches towards financial processes and methodologies (e.g., planning, reporting), customer service, overall team management and talent management  
  • Work with the Business Unit Board of Directors to provide additional financial insights and analysis to ensure transparency and aid in broader policy decisions 

Essential Skills:

  • All applicants must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy.
  • A minimum of 5 year’s senior financial leadership experience overseeing all financial operations, including forecasting, reporting, payroll, treasury and tax functions within the United Kingdom   
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a Big Four accounting firm.  
  • Previously held a financial leadership position as part of a global finance team  
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and board level reporting. Demonstrated ability to engage executive leadership and boards through clear, strategic financial presentations and reporting  
  • Expertise in overseeing large-scale budgets and organizational finances  
  • Must hold a UK-recognised Chartered Accountant qualification (ACMA CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).   

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Expertise in designing and implementing metrics and KPIs for operational performance. 
  • Influencing and leading a global team
